Babywearing is an ancient practice that offers numerous benefits for both baby and parents. But between a baby wrap and a soft structured carrier, which one should you choose? TrioNest™ is here to guide you.
🧸 What is ergonomic babywearing?
Babywearing is considered ergonomic when it respects the baby's natural position: knees higher than the bottom (frog position), rounded back, supported head. This position is ideal for the development of the hips and spine.
🧵 The baby wrap: flexibility and closeness
A wrap is a long elastic or woven fabric that is tied around yourself and your baby.
-
Advantages: very enveloping, ideal from birth, promotes bonding, adaptable to all body types
-
Disadvantages: requires learning how to tie (15-20 min initially), warmer in summer
-
Ideal for: newborns, parents who want maximum contact

🎒 The soft structured carrier: practicality and speed
A soft structured carrier (SSC) is a harness with adjustable buckles and straps.
-
Advantages: put on in 30 seconds, easily adjustable, simple to share between two parents, multiple positions (front, hip, back)
-
Disadvantages: less enveloping than a wrap, some models are not recommended before 4 months without a newborn insert
-
Ideal for: busy parents, daily outings, babies over 4 months old
